What a week on the water! The bite stayed strong from July 18 through July 24, and the clock is now ticking louder than ever. This is officially the last week to chase summer Rockfish before the season closes on August 1. Aboard Miss Susie Charters, we kept the rods bending with quick Striped Bass limits and big numbers of hard-fighting catfish.

How Was the Fishing From July 18–24?
In one word: excellent. Even with a few big storms rolling through, our captains stayed on the fish and adapted fast. When one bite slowed down, we simply switched gears and kept everyone reeling.
The result? Quick Rockfish limits, huge catfish hauls, and plenty of smiles at the dock. Here is the day-by-day breakdown.
July 18 — Quick Rockfish Limit, Then a Catfish Blitz
We started the day with a super quick live bait limit on Rockfish, also known as Striped Bass. After that, we went looking for White Perch. The big storms must have scattered the shallow bite, because we only landed 20 keeper White Perch and never spotted the big schools on our Humminbird side scan.
No problem. We pulled out the catfish rig and quickly whacked over 30 catfish. That is light tackle fishing at its finest — when one bite fades, we find another and keep the action going.
July 19 —Rockfish / Stripers and 40+ Cats at Fort Washington
What a beautiful Chesapeake Bay morning! We landed a full limit of Rockfish / Stripers and released 6 more fish that measured over the slot. Then the catfish took over, and we boated more than 40. Fort Washington, MD was very, very much biting.
July 20 — Live Bait Stripers, Then a Catfish Combo
We kicked off with live bait fishing for Stripers, then switched over to Channel Cats and Blue Cats. This classic combo keeps every rod busy and sends everyone home with a cooler full of fish.
July 23 — Blue Catfish Still Chewing at Tantallon Marina
The Blue Catfish out of Fort Washington kept right on chewing, just like they have every single day out of Tantallon Marina. These river monsters pull hard and never seem to quit.

July 24 — An Excellent Morning on Live Bait
We wrapped up the week with another excellent AM using live bait. The fish cooperated, and the crew had a blast.
The takeaway: Every trip this week produced action, whether the target was Rockfish, White Perch, or Blue Catfish.
