September 2010
September was a good month of fishing for the MISS SUSIE. The Rockfish which were very tricky to catch during the dog days of summer showed back up in excellent numbers and we were able to catch them with a wide array of methods from top water lure casting , jigging, live lining and trolling. Bluefish were also very abundant and provided us with lots of action. The Spanish Mackerel bite was good for only a few days early in the month, but it did provide us with a decent catch of these tasty fish for a few trips.
The live lining using live spot for bait just picked up a few days ago and as the water cools and more fish move to structure, the bite should only get better. October should be a great month for live lining and also a great month for casting and trolling for breaking Bluefish. Then in November, the Trophy Stripers will arrive in our waters. And for the months of November and December we will be catching these huge Stripers from 30 inches to over 50 inches. For the last few fall seasons, the very best bite for these trophy fish has been in our own backyard, and this season we hope for a repeat.
